Question for anyone. Would you feel comfortable towing a 90 on a trailer behind a v8 explorer? I will be getting my dad's 2005 explorer and was wondering if towing the 90 with it would be a good idea. Yes as soon as I can afford it I'll be trading it in probably on a F-250 powerstroke.

If you have a proper brake controller you should be fine. Just get the truck placed well on the trailer if you get it too far back it will wander all over and too far forward and the load will be a lot for the xploder

I would probably not do it.

At first I was thinking the bigger Ford, but an explorer, I think, does not have enough weight, itself. I wouldn't be as concerned about tongue-weight as much as trying to stop on anything but a dry surface. Brake controllers are brake controllers, but that millisecond-delay between the signal being sent to the brakes, and the action of the brakes on the trailer is the difference between going into a slide and not.

I am not sure if it was intentional or not, but "xploder" is kind what I had mind if you would not be able to stop the thing :)

What's the towing capacity on an Exploder?
My 18' twin axle trailer (thanks Dave McM!) weighs 1800' empty. My RRC is rated to 5,000# with a braked trailer.

The brake controller will stop the trailer and it's load and the tonge weight is only 500 lbs

If Trevor can haul his 5200 lb Disco on a full deck trailer with a RR Tyler won't have any problem with the xploder and a D90

I used to haul a 10 meter skiboat on a single axel trailer with no brakes with a 5l Mustang, just had to plan ahead did it for 2 years

What does the trailer weigh? A light weight aluminium would be nice....my 18' steel equipment trailer would be a bit much....

Tongue weight is EVERYTHING.
