Congrats Abraham!!! We'll have to find some really tiny work gloves for him:D

I'm off to VT for the weekend now, but if the trip keeps filling up at this rate (60% full in 3 hours!) I'll consider setting a second date soon after if there is interest.

One of my daughters gave me a Hi Lift Jack for Christmas! Just got the mounting brackets for it, but they only work on the bumper. I would rather mount it to the Brownchurch than the bumper. Has anyone done this? What did you use to mount it other than cable ties?

I am going to have to back out. I will be in TX on the coast fishing for redfish at the time. I tried to make it some other weekend but no can do with the free airline tickets.

I am still finding rust in my rain gutters from that grill I hauled out last time :D

Pls include me in the next clean-up if you remember and I apologize for missing this one.

I wouldn't mind sitting in the back with the two kids and just taking all their snacks and juice boxes from them. I'm a fat Italian that loves food!

That too will work fine. I've never meet Cristina, so it would be a good day to chat it up with her before we share a house out west :)

Looks like we're going to have a big group!

Anybody have any good ideas for this trip? I'd like to be able to spend a bit more time actually cleaning up than has happened in the past 2-3 trips. We seem to have gotten away from that aspect a little.

I was thinking of heading straight to the area that we're working on, and then meandering through some of the more interesting trails afterward - we've been doing the reverse lately.

Frank,

I'm going have to cancel, and it looks as though someone is looking for a spot. Really wanted to make it, but I don't think it's going to work this time. Thanks for organizing what looks like a great event. Hopefully I can make the next one.

Frank, the only problem with cleaning up first is that we will be schlepping around all the junk over the trails which could cause problems.

It is not that far to the junk yard. Could we make a trip to clean up and then go back to ride the trails? Maybe even bring out more stuff the second trip?

Just a thought.

We actually did that once and it was one of the best trips ever. The reason we haven't done it lately is that the "easy" garbage is gone - we have to drive further and work harder to get the same load. Plus, we seemed to have slowed down - lots of picture taking and double the number of trucks!

However, if we start on time and are able to keep moving at a reasonable pace I think we can do it.

Let's plan on this if everyone agrees: Leave my house and drop off the paper work at the ranger station. Then we'll make a bee line to the garbage, load up, and head straight out to recycle. We won't all need to go to recycle so some people can have a long lunch or take a nap in the parking lot. Then we can head for a nice loop in the woods and pick up a bit more as we go along.

Once thing that we used to do was to make a pile of garbage in an accessible place so that we could do a snow run in the winter and still come out looking good. Maybe we could work on that again in the afternoon.

How does that sound?

Joe

Try an HVAC supplier (or even Lowes/HD), they should have large cable ties (they're used to put together flex duct). I don't know what the weight rating is on them, but i would think they'd be strong enough. They're not going to be black though, which is probably what you want for on your rack.

I have some. Bring the flooring with you on Sunday and we can zip them in at lunch or when they go to drop off the recycling or something.

I hope everyone is is set for tomorrow! I just took a ride through the trails on my bike to check everything out. In addition to lunch, lots of drinks, and work gloves, I'm going to add bug spray to the list:eek:

Tom Bache is bringing a trailer, generator, and sawzall so we'll be using that during the morning run. In the afternoon we'll work on the "loop trail" as I call it. It has lots of beer cans to be picked up as well as some brush/trees that need clearing.

If anyone is on a tight schedule and needs to be back at an certain time there will be a chance to duck out at lunch when we go drop off the stuff at recycle.

Almost forgot - I saw a SIII 109 with a coil spring chassis in the woods! The owner is part of a model airplane club that uses a field that's in the middle of the woods up there.

The firewall won't let me view them at work! I guess I'll have something to look forward to when I get home.

I think the day went pretty well - but the trail took much longer than I anticipated. We cut up and hauled out an impressive amount of scrap - a huge thanks to Tom is in order for renting the generator and bringing the sawzall and trailer!!!

I think everyone would agree that Tom also put on an impressive show driving that loaded trailer out behind a stock LWB with road tires and no low ratio. He made it look easy!

FYI - Ringwood State Park is on the list to be closed b/c of NJ's budget problems. The ranger said this would put a hold on all activities - including our volunteer efforts. Let's hope this doesn't happen:eek:

Any deadline? Anybody that went on the trip want to give it a shot? I'm not much of a writer - I do numbers.
