Advocacy against budget cuts that will affect Lusscroft and High Point State park

Dear Equestrians:

Thanks for your support for keeping the Department of Agriculture. NOW WE NEED TO keep our State Parks and Forests from being cut.

The effects of Governor Corzine's continued and proposed budget cuts and hiring freezes NJ State Parks & Forest IS NOT TO BE TOLERATED.

It appears that as one of the largest parks in the state (15,000 plus acres) High Point is at the top of the list for closure. I live a stones throw from High Point, Stokes, Swartzwood, Kittatinny. WHAT parks do you live near that is going hurt with Gov.. Corzine's cuts? The recent equine survey shows our numbers are impressive - let's show the GOV that we are powerful.

As the most densely populated state in the Nation, we, the taxpayers of New Jersey need our 42 parks, 11 forests and 3 recreation areas as well as our 50 historic sites and districts (High Point and Lusscroft fall into the High point historic district) to get away from the overcrowding and keep our sanity and perspective.

ALL deserve to be preserved, protected, policed and thus USED by the people of New Jersey, please write to your legislators NOW. There is no time to waste, the state's budget will be voted on before May 1.

Unfortunately your state is out of money. They could clean house, cut the fat and streamline the operation, but the chances of that happening are slim to none. The other alternative is to raise the, already near the highest in the nation, taxes.
