Who's going??

I have a couple of open seats if you want a ride down and want to be a trail bitch, I mean spotter.

If you want to bring your rig and can find a 30' trailer we can do that also.

If we have enough we can get a tent like Philly Rover used to when they attended.

Let me know

Randy

Randy,

I'm going to MAR as is Trevor G, Bill and Jeff. A few more and we could scrounge up enough people for a smaller tent.

OK I'll start

I will be bringing a 600 sq in Grill, 10 x 10 pop up, cap machine, all the tools you'll need including air, any parts you want or think you'll need,.... thinking

I'll try Jeff again about the tent and get a price so we can see if we have enough people to make it affordable.

How about food do you want to cook/eat as a group?

I can bring my grill since I am so close and anything else we think we will need.

You should absolutely stop by. We would love to meet you and give you beer or two.

I just talked to the tent place and depending upon size it would be between $22 and $30 a person for a 20'x20' or 20'x30' tent. We have done this in the past and it has made a huge difference in regards to enjoying downtime. I think even more so this year since we won't be trail running at night.

Unless more people speak up we have a small number of people. We will be lucky to have 10 pitching in. We can go larger but it will cost more for everyone.

Unless you want to pay extra so you can change out axles under the big top.:p

Ok Things we need

Fire containment mabe a huge truck wheel anything 2-3 ft across we can put a decent sized fire in

fire wood any body have a connection mabe 1/2 a face cord

Any land rover banner or flag

If everybody could bring an extra tarp incase it rains we can curtain in the tent.

Anything else that comes to mind we have needed at MARS past??

galen211

I finally got to the ROAV person in charge of all things tent related. We can only do a 20x20, anything larger requires a permit and ROAV isn't doing that.

I can get the firewood, I have some stuff to cut up at my house.

On the fire ring I think it has to have a bottom, can't be something that is open. Must be like one of those things you buy at Lowe's or Home Depot.

galen211

If you don't register a truck it is free. I had a friend come last year to hang out and it cost nothing. I take that back you had to join ROAV and that was $20 I believe.

Why does this seem like a conversation between you and me!

I did not get to call the tent people as I was on the road all day getting to the dealer for my tank recall. I will take care of it tomorrow.

Tom did get a hold of me and hopefully he will be sending the banners to either you or me, waiting to hear back.

Have you guys been getting all this rain in the Albemarle/Nelson area ?
Must have had three inches in the past 48 hrs.

Yeah, we have been getting the rain Thursday and Friday. I came up to PSU for the football game last night and right now it is pouring. No idea what it is like at home but it was still raining when we left yesterday morning. The ground, creeks and rivers down our way have been so dry that by Thursday they will be normal again. They just soak up anything that comes along. No worries though, the Virginia clay will still be sticky. :)

Randy, I say club tent in the club area, we all camp there. We never had power before so no reason to need it now.

We should have a banner (hopefully) so finding us should be easy.

I was going to 'camp' in the back of the D3 unless it's going to be really wet-Francis stills smells like a skunk when he's wet-so I'll be able to camp whereever we can as a group.
Let us know what our obligation for the tents and stuff are.
And, let me know what I can bring. I have an old tractor rim that is 10"x 24" with no top or bottom for a fire ring.

Maryland 110
09-28-2008, 06:55 PM
It"s starting to look like I may be able to bring the green 5 door 110. The tdi drive train was released by customs last Wed, had it in on the mounts Thurs, been hooking everything up the last couple of days. We hooked up the wiring harness and the engine was locked up today. On a whim I removed the wading plug and stuck a magnet in the hole and out came a #10 pan head screw that had been wedged between the ring gear and the bell housing.
Hit the key and it ran for a moment. The fuel lift pump is toast. God willing and the crick don rise I should be able to pull this off.

galen211

Weld a piece of flat steel to the bottom so the fire doesn't touch the ground and we are in business.

Doug, good luck! Hope we see the 110.

Also, got home tonight and everything was still wet as though it has been raining all day Sunday too.

I have Galen, Trevor G and me so far

Trevor how about Bill and John are they in for food?

galen211
09-29-2008, 01:17 PM
Bill Simone was asking me today about food.

I was thinking on this and hear are my thoughts. Last year lunch was a weird time because people are always coming and going. I say we get boxes of burgers and hot dogs and let everyone grill as they come and go for lunch each day.

This leaves us breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Also leaves us Dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Seems like it should be easy to plan 6 meals?

Gave me a great deal on a few things, especially the brake booster and master cylinder assembly. My brakes started acting a little funny right before leaving MAR. Was losing vacuum preasure.
