I am headed home for the holidays and while there plan an doing some work to the RRC.

This may be a Trevor G's shop but he isn't sure if he's available yet. If not it will be at my parent's in York.

#1 on the list is the death wobble.
#2 if we have enough people is the Borg-Warner to LT230 conversion.

I'll supply food and beverages, no knowledge necessary, just come out and chill.

I may be able to be there for the afternoon...... this is preconfirmation with the upper management. But I will offer parts off the white '94 to attendiees with some discression as it is sold as scrap and some parts were promised to the buyer.

Does Trevor know about this yet?

How about at Evans and we can drop the engine in the D1?

galen211
12-17-2008, 03:19 PM
Yeah, we talked on the phone then email, he wasn't sure if his place was available but we'll do it somewhere if not there.

I can wait on the LT230 since I pulled the DS but this death wobble needs to go.

Thanks Trevor.

Thanks to everyone else too. Looks like I'll be bringing the LT-230 along. I think we'll have enough people to pull off the swap.

Is 9:00 to early?

9's fine. When we have a more accurate headcount as we get closer to the date, let me know what you'd like in the way of feed/drinks and I'll pick it up Sat.
Then I'll mark it up 1000% and put it on Galen's bill.

Let's hope it's not a sloppy mess that weekend!

And, for y'all who may venture into the backyard, bring recovery gear and a change of clothes!

And, I may have a small construction project I could use some help with- I need to build a shelter off the back of the shop and if I can, I'll try to have the posts and headers in place by the weekend. I'd need a hand with a couple of joists, trusses, and roofing.

Jake and I plan to come over to help out with Rover and construction projects.

You have an air nailer? If not, I can bring one along. It's sooooo much easier.

Bring it along Trevor. I think the plan is to use truss hangers so a lot of the nailing will be shear resistant nails but there will be side wall work and the strapping for the roof sheeting

Honestly, I doubt I'll get much done on that project this week. May save it for another "shop day". Get it? "Shop day."

I plan on being at T's at 9 am unless he says otherwise.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

I am 50/50 on being there at all. At the most a couple of hours after noon. Being the organized guy that I am I hadn't written Emmas 2nd b-day on my calender

Landlord wants to see drawings and samples of materials before building. It IS her place after all, so I have to follow those demands.
So, no construction yet. I guess I'll wait until cash flow picks up and the ground is frozen!
Which leads to posting the 109 for sale.

Galen, how was the ride home?
And your public wants a recap of the days activities!
Jeremy- there's mud all up and down Old Hershey from both Rovers!

Jake and I just made a big mess at the local car wash. A big mess. We had some muddy fun yesterday!

We're out for Thursday at RC, however. Our clicking got louder after the mud. Jake lay in the back and on the floor as I drove and determined it's coming from the rear axle. We'll start disassembly on Thursday (which is why we tried to clean it up a bit).

Never got the transfer case, we had, ummmm, a few other issues to work out first.

One of the rear u-joints was shot, so we replaced both of those.

Rebalanced/rotated all the tires, replaced all the tre's and aligned the front end.

It drives so much better now I can't even believe it. It still have a slight vibration at 70 that is pulsing through the drivetrain. I think it is either the rear ds or the tires. But it is livable compared to what I had.

Hard bumps still translates back through the steering wheel and I do think checking the pre-load or replacing the swivel pins would help.

The check engine light came back on after driving home, it is code 17 again but it is running fine.

Thanks to Trevor and all who came out. I will try to figure out another weekend and we can knock out the transfer case. I really want 4wd back!

Looks like we may switch over to Bill's garage in Lebanon. I'll see what I can do to figure out a date.

He has a pit in one of the bays so no rolling around on a cold floor!

OK...round two. Looks like this time we will be at Bill's place in Lebanon on January 31st.

This time we are going to get that transfer case in there. Bill's place has a pit and will make the job a lot easier. Also, it is heated.

If you haven't seen it yet come out and see Bill's recently restored 109 pick-up. It is an absolute piece of art.

Got an email from Tom and all is a go for Saturday. He said he'll be there at 8 and he has the key.

Jeremy, not sure about Sunday. I should probably spend some time with my parents since I'll be staying with them. I want to get out so bad but I really don't want to break anything now that this RRC is getting close to being in good mechanical shape.

I also wish I could find some tires before I go off-road.

Super Bowl is Sunday, so I'm less enthusiastic than I was. Plus I may have uncovered another mechanical gremlin yesterday. For a few minutes we were happy about the repaired diff and rebuilt starter, but now I suspect at least one cat is clogged enough to be affecting performance. Anybody who has ideas about how I could fix that problem without spending the money for a new y-pipe is welcome to send me a PM.

I should have mentioned last night that I have a good used one but you should also look at getting a set from Summit I think they are like $40 each a muffler shop should charge about $50 to cut them off and weld the new ones on. Note that you do not take the y pipe off the truck to do this, you will never get them aligned again.

If you want to try my y pipe to see if that is the problem you are welcome to.

I have a Original y pipe with the cats I would let go for 100.00. Bought RN Y and cats because I thought mine were bad turn out to be bad wiring at O2, 55,000 on them
