Looking for suggestions for new tires for my 1982 series 3 stage 1 currently have 7.50 r16 starting to show their age. 70 % to 80 % road , rest offroad. Any suggestions? Cheers

I've been fitting 235/85/16's to my own and customer's Series' rovers, with and without overdrive.
I like the Bridgestone REVO A/T, but they've become pricey lately. Another choice is the Dunlop RVXT Radial Rover and the Mud Rover.

I agree with Trevor regarding 235/85-16 as a good tire size.

When I went through the process for a smaller, older Series truck I settled on a slightly smaller tire, which seemed to have dimensions very close to a 7.50-16: 215/85-16 Firestone Destination M/T

Since there's room for a 235/85 on a 109", I'd go for the slightly larger tire. Personally, I'd also go for a M/T rather than an A/T tire.

It really depends on how much driving you do per year and what kind.

If you do like 3000/year then any tread will last a long time until dry rot catches up to you.

If you don't do much offroad then go with a nice mild (cheaper) all terrain with lots of siping in the tread blocks for better wet road traction. It's awesome to be able to stop at a stop sign in the wet.

Me myself I want a set of M/T

I have 215/85-16 Chapparels.... 1,800lbs load ( rubber provided by Yokohama ) on my wife's 93 county LWB, nice meaty thread blocks ( A/T ). My wife bashes curbs every week and she can't seem to cut the sidewalls.
I bought 4 mounted & balanced out the door for $499.00 at Mieneke 2 yrs. ago. Still have a lot of meat on them. Very, Very happy with these no-names.
I will take a pic if you want me too.

I've run Dunlop RT's on our D1 for the past 10 years. They wear like iron and drive excellent in just about everything. A set also came on my 109 when I bought it, and I still haven't ground them down either.

No longer available in 7.5x16, but you could get 235/85R16.
