Finally getting around to posting photo's. Apparently I'm lazy or something!! The build is going well and now that I am putting things back together again it actually feels like I am getting somewhere and there might just be a light and the end!!!
Having 20000 pieces stored all over the house gets overwhelming. ( and the ever patient wife is starting to mention divorce if she doesn't get her house back soon !! )

I'll post updates soon - I hope to have the brakes run, the exhaust installed and the axles finished by next week.

Wow, looking good dude! Is that your original frame? I thought you got a new one? Also, are you painting the entire truck bronze green?

I dont see what the divorce issue is. If you move the exhaust two inches more on that couch you can seat two there quite comfortably. I think she should love you more realising what a meticulous, hard worker you are!

Now that's progress. That idea of using pieces of wood across the axle flanges while painting, etc. is interesting. Did you spray the chassis or brush it?

It's great to see the pictures. Thanks for posting them, Neil.

Sven, the frame is the one I bought from Dave (Willard). I did buy a new civvy frame - which I still have if someone is interested - but Dave's frame was a military one so I could keep my truck the same.
I also like the truck in Bronze Green, so I'll respray what I need to and not have to touch the rest.

Thanks Ivar, unfortunately she sees things a little differently!! :D

The blocks of wood allowed me to hang it to paint and keep it off the floor while storing. The frame was brushed with Rust Bullet and the black I sprayed with an HVLP gun.

....just got home and there is another box of goodies from Trevor at Rovahfarm at my doorstep...going to play...

I read the posts first and thought, their just kidding about the exhaust on the couch.... right!
Then I went to the pictures, when I got to the one with the exhaust on the couch I started laughing my ass off!
Man, to think of what crap my wife gives me about some things!
I tell you that looks like fun! Looks great!

Impressive. Sure you are going to want to get it dirty?

I can't seem to keep anything I own 'clean' - so this shouldn't a problem :D

I'm building it to be wheeled, carry lumber, mulch, rocks whatever but at least this way when everything breaks the bolts should come apart without any PB !!

The first step to doing that is to STOP selling your Series trucks!! :D

very nice, everything clean and neat.

What kinda tires are those on that? Domestic DOTable tires or overseas tires?

Neil,

What do you think of the parabolics in the military "extended" frame positions? Are the shocks long enough (droop)? Prop shaft clearance OK?

I'm about to install para's on my 109 and was thinking I'd use the "standard" position holes and civy shackles. My reason being that the parabolic 'lift' would be negated by the lower spring position, and I'd basically end-up at the factory "exMoD" ride height as with the standard military springs.

What do you think?

Tom,sorry for no response.
We'll have to see how it rides - only been out on the road twice so far.

It's DONE!!!!!!! 3yrs 3 months. Still working out a few glitches but nothing devastating.

I'm going to take a nap now!

Thanks so much to everyone for your advice and encouragement during the build.

The keys to a successful Series truck rebuild are as follows:

Heated garage
No spouse
No kids
No relatives
40 hour/week job
No car payment enabling you to spend that money you would have spent on your Series truck rebuild.

Seriously though, the work you've done looks first rate. Damn nice.

Wow, how the hell do you know how to do all that sh*t? I just find one loose wire and I panic! Amazing.

Now for the bad news ... its too good to get messed up at RC. Ha, welcome to the 'I dont want to dent my series' club.

Merry Christmas.
