As my rebuild progresses I run into unforeseen snags. While putting my rear cylinders on I noticed the passenger one was hanging up. Took it apart and saw a score in the bore - probably explains why the truck was lurching to one side before taking it off the road!

I started to research new cylinders and found Lucas ones for around $50. I then found a company in Virginia who rebuilds and sleeves cylinders with brass. They wanted $80 to rebuild a cylinder and guarantee their work for as long as you own the truck.
I shipped both down and got them back in less than a week - bead blasted, resleeved and rebuilt using all new parts. They also coated them in a baked on epoxy finish.
They seem to slide better than when they were new - we'll see after the truck is moving under it's own steam again.

Anyway, if anyone is interested:

Great company to deal with.

Now was that $80 for both or each? They look darn good though regardless.

it was $80 each, but I figured for $30 more than new ones I get a lifetime guarantee.

Looks like nice work, that is good to know.

I had them quote a rebuild for a remote servo but the cost was astronomical. I'm sure it would have been like new upon return, but I can get a new one in the UK for considerably less, or the rebuild kit and DIY.

Not sure when I'll get around to boosting the brakes...

Shipfitters disease has a strong hold on you my friend.

well...see...I had problems when it was 'shipfitters disease'.
Since I apparantly decided to bypass the continual tinkering associated with the affliction and start from scratch, I might have something way worse, and I'm sure it's terminal !! :D
