Ok, I found these last night online and thought they looked marvelous. Goodyear G971's. However, knowing Goodyear and their pricing I knew they'd be steep. I wasn't really prepared for the cost though. They are listed as a tire for Mining and Forestry use. The info sounds impressive what with 10 ply E rating and steel corded sidewalls too. You look and you be the judge. The price for a 235/85/16 at Service Tire in York, PA was $289.52 for an unmounted tire. At Brooks and Huff in Leader Heights (south York) they wanted........$427 for the same tire!!! Imagine paying $427 (mounted/balanced) for a 235/85/16 tire? They must be damn good.

Michelin XZL's are $330/tire from Rovers North.

Great tires, bad price.

Deals are out there on tires. I got an entire truck with 5 good 235/85 tires for $1 :)

Last week we had a local stop by for some quick repair work on his 83 110. He had a set of tires by Treadwright ( used to be Hi- Tec retread co.), they were the AT style and they actually looked pretty decent. Best part is they're affordable. Now, I don't have any experience with retreads but they looked OK.. Just thought I'd pass that along. He said he paid $ 75-80 a tire with a warranty for 235/85/16's.

I'm familiar with the Treadright/Hi-tec retreading company and I'll most likely be biuying tires from them when needed. There is another company called Stone tire and they looked promising but their website http://stonetire.com/ is empty of products and I haven't commited myself to call them. They used to have inventory online and the prices were decent, not sure what happened.
