Looks like an interesting idea and it is actually available for 24 spline rovers. I'm not exactly sure how it works yet, but seems like it is a reverse differential sort of. Instead of allowing one wheel to slow down in a turn (or on ice, rocks, etc.) it lets one wheel speed up. Maybe this is the same as a detroit? Claims to be ok for the front axle though which a detroit is not.

I know of the Detroit, but not its internal details. How does the Kaiser differ?

For that kind of money though, I'd probably get a Quaife...

Detroits allow either axle to go faster than the ring gear but not slower as in the description offered on the linked article. But the internals look very different to my eyes. Not sure how this would make this locker any happier in the front axle than a Detroit unless the lockup is much less jerky than a 'troit.

Seems like a detroit does something similar though by a totally different mechanism. This new one is supposed to be much smoother which makes it ok for the front end. I guess time will tell if that is true and if it lasts. Who wants to give it a go first?:)

Ok, I watched the Youtube video and I understand how it works. It has 2 one way or lock up bearings in it. One for the left axle and one for the right axle. It allows the axle to rotate faster than the carrier but not slower than the carrier. But this makes me wonder what happens in reverse? When the axle is being driven in the opposite direction does it lock up still?

The concept is good in many ways if you are comparing it to a Detroit but what other reason but price would you choose a Detroit but price? This thing has way too many moving "breakable" parts and the price is the same as the proven ARB.

At $3-400 this is a reasonable choice but at $900 not even a consideration

yeah, for $900 it's gotta lotta parts, I imagine fine metal grit fouling up those bearings. Have to put an oil filter on my pumpkin.
