It's time to start planning for this event and other than avoiding the campground-that-shall remain -nameless and hosting it in a warmer part of the year, what would participants like to see at an off-road weekend?

I'd like to add a Trials competition to the weekend. Anybody here interested in overseeing that under the RotR umbrella? Especially since RC has added 1200 acres, I'll bet we could find some space on their property...

What dates are you throwing around for a warmer time?

I am interested in a camping/trailing event. I have a fairly stock truck though.....

RC is so close - we really should be up there more. A weekend away sounds like a great idea. The stock truck will do fine, Ivar took his Immaculate 88" out on some of the trails and had a blast.

We did Novembrrrrrrr last time.
How about August?
Sidebar- we can still do a small club weekend there sooner than later, but I think RotR is going to grow. Christina is eager to have a co-event with ROAV, and I'd like to have ROVERSclub handle/host a Trials event during the same weekend.

I would like to be there, but August is just a busy weekend activity time when you have teenage kids. Sept or Oct would be better for me. But hey, its not all about me ... or is it

And yes, I hope to never have to wear those 10 layers of clothes I had on in that arctic blast in November! Good thing I had some scotch with me!

October has the MAR, the National, and Halloween. September can still be hot, but another possibility.

Are we looking to turn this into a camping trip also??

Tom, absolutely. Primitive camping on the Rc property is available and we can arrange for catering for breakfast and dinner or just dinner or some combination. We have a great cater that I would be happy to use again or we can potluck it and minimize the costs.

Pot luck sounds good to me. I have stoves, coolers, Big tents, tables, chairs ETC. Now all I need is a D-130 to carry it all.....

So, who would be interested in putting on a Trials event at Rausch for one day of the weekend? I was imagining maybe a stock/novice in the am and modified/experienced in the pm. Any thoughts?

I'll have a fairly new baby then in August so I will be homebound for a while.

I'd be up for a trials course one morning or afternoon, but the trail rides would be my number one priority at Rausch. Where would you do the trials?

Trevor
you may want to ask the people at Rausch about a location. Maybe the new section that opened up.

Looking forward and hope I can make it again!
A warmer time would be better if it's camping.
I have a new "warmer" sleeping bag but that was pretty cold :(

I need to get up there and see the new property. I'll try to call Bruce Shallis in the next few days and run the idea by him. He was eager to have us back bigger and better.
I think the other brands of off-roaders may not be aware of Trials, at least I never see it mentioned in the Jeep and other offroad mmags-so we'l see how responsive they are to another brilliant new concept for the park!

I was at the park over Easter at a FJNE event. The other side was open and those that tried it out (at an additional cost) liked it as it was more "open". Mostly green terrain but they mentioned the were going to expand and build it up.

Lucky 8 and Roverlab have set a date. No, no, not for marriage, Rovers on the Rocks at Rausch Creek, November 12-14th!

We're going to set up base camp at the Hampton Inn- they've offered a conference room , they are 4 wheeler friendly, and they accept dogs!
Of course, camping is free at Rausch Creek, but the facilities are , ah, limited.

Our plan is to collect for T-shirts and the Saturday catered dinner, and participants can pay as they go with Rausch Creek.

Justin and Lucky 8 will again host the Rock Challenge.

Stay tuned for more info!

Just to emphyasize on what rvrsrvc mentioned on the trIals... in Europe they do more trIaling than trAiling. There are a lot more sanctioned trIal competions in Europe than here in the US. In essence US's version of trIaling are the Rock Crawling competions popular in the west!

How about Trials on Sat. and Wheeling on Sun. or is it already set up by Lucky8?

Would Roversclub members meet in one meet point or is there a central area for everybody Lucky8, D-90source members, Roversclub members; etc.

Justin and I are posting on many Rover forums to attract as much interest as possible. Roversclub, discoweb, d-90; all the major players.
We haven't proceeded with any Trials event for this year, but maybe it could be a Saturday conversation piece about where on the RC property would be a good place to have an event like that?

But, we will have the Rover only Rock Challenge on Saturday at 1pm- a closed course where the goal is to have the fastest time without hitting any of the markers.

A Trials event would be a great idea for the less modified vehicles-see the Lucky 8 videos of the Rock Challange from last year and you'll see what I mean.

I have a Rover customer who is also active with the Civilian Air Patrol and we talked about having a mock rescue to demonstrate people recovery. Also, John Bradshaw, who is opening a 4x4 Training/Event center in West Virginia, and he suggested preparing a vehicle with a "breakdown" somewhere in the RC park and prepare a team recovery of the vehicle. Maybe it can be diagnosed and fixed, maybe it has to be brought somewhere to be worked on or towed out completely.

Are you camping at Rausch or the Comfort Inn? They will have a Conference room for a meeting place Rausch is a drive if you are drinking at all.

I saw that! We were thinking we'd fit some tubular steel "doors" and use it as a community Trials vehicle: Any one who was wanting to try Trials but didn't want to risk their pricier Rover...

No camping at the Hotel but there will be a meeting area in the lobby with some tables etc

Got my room at the Comfort Inn...forgot to ask how many were left for the ROR2 group though. I only have Saturday now, but likely changing that to include Friday as well depending on how much I get done here today.

Looking forward to the weekend!
