View Full Version : Cars or Trucks?

I struggle with calling my 2 Discoverys "trucks." I want to call them trucks but in my mind trucks have pickup beds on them. I don't want to call them "cars" either. Cars are little wussy things without solid axles underneath. I can't call them "SUVs" as that doesn't roll off the tounge at all and it is only a marketing name. Example: Hey Grady, go get in mommy's truck. Most of the time I will substitute "Rover" for "truck."

Anybody else?

Usually rover or car. I always think of a truck as something much bigger.

When talking to friends and such, I refer to mine as Range rovers..... ofcourse they automatically think of the newer ones because of their popularity! Even the Discovery is a household name already..... but when you mention Defender, that's a whole other story!
Just call them by their names!

Our 3 year old refers to them both as Rovers. Just trying to see what y'all thought.

I call mine a truck :D

I personally classify trucks by their chassis and the towing capability.

I go with truck too. My Disco was a truck. My Rubicon is a truck. My Series is a truck.

series rovers, defenders, and forward controls are trucks disco,rr,and freelander are cars. cars are nice to drive with comforts like heat and a/c. cars are for commuting .trucks are for working. thats my opinion anyway.i still like the rr and the disco but theyre cars

I have always considered the Series to be trucks. The Disco 1 always felt truckish, especially after the mild lift. The Disco II is a car. It feels like a car. We just call it 'The Disco'.
