Got my new bumper installed tonight and brought Rover home after being parked at my work for a month. Still gotta get the gas line fixed back at the tank fill but at least the bumper is done.

3/8" C-channel cut from a 5" square tube. Did the welding and cutting myself. Held on with four 1/2" grade 8 bolts. They barely fit through the frame holes.

I like it!
It looks like there could be room for an under-bumper winch tray someday too . . . maybe with the fairlead through the bumper.

Thanks guys. I think there is enough room to do one of the winch mounts where the grill is cut around the winch but only if I move the tranny cooler. Tried to keep it tight as I could so front overhang would be minimal.
Steel was free, used my work welder, have about $20 in paint and bolts and maybe 10 hours labour. (British spelling free of charge)
Now to make my engine driven capstan winch.......

Hmmm, RopPTyme just doesn't roll off the tounge. I'm sure we'll come up with a name for your Rover Off Road Kit business...
Looks nice and sturdy.

Looks nice.

How long does it take to saw a 3/8" wall 5" tube length wise? ;)

The tubing was definitely the right choice - the radius on the edges gives the bumper a finished look. We need an event to get some scratches in that fresh paint!

Takes about 10 minutes to cut both sides with an acetylene torch. Ragged cut but I cleaned it up some with a grinder.
