What should have been a $500 visit at max, cost $758!!!!

15k mile service and brake service. Since we had a 2001 disco prior to our 2004, we knew the pads wore out fast. on our last sched. service i asked them to inspect the brakes in advance and they said you have more than enough to last to your next service. So my mother kept driving.

Well this time around our checkbook was ready to replace all 4 pads. well not only did they replace the rear pads, they also replaced the rotors! saying they were worn! This could have been prevented if they just replaced the pads on my last visit.

The statement also shows "the front tires have 30% left, still ok!" Hm, so by my next scheduled visit i guess i will need both front pads and rotors AGAIN!!! Prestige has just lost our family's business forever! We bought two cars from them and this is what they do to us? Add to this $100/hour for labor!

Brake pad set for rear $121.83
Rotor Rear $98.53 X 2
Wiper blade assembly $46.90
Wiper Blades $10
Brake flush kit $49.95

Total parts: $425.75
Total Labor: $290.00

Does anyone here know of any private mechanics near GW Bridge who wont stick it to us like Prestige?

Hey, I could've done all that work for much less...

My neighbor has a shop in Englewood Cliffs and he has worked on my Rangie, maybe you can take it to him next time. I'll get you his phone number.

You could try Vinny at Import Specialist. He used to be next door to Prestige, but moved to Dumont. He does great work, and his rates are comparable to other shops in the area. You could also try precision auto in Fairview. I'm not sure exactly where you are located, but both shops are within 30 minutes of the bridge.

The guys at LR Parsippany gave it to me for free and that's after I had my gas tank fixed for a recall. Go figure.

Go write down your VIN number, and start calling all the dealerships you can find. Some of them will give it to you for free, over the phone.
