This will be our first winter run into the Pines. This trip and it's difficulty is solely determined by the weather leading up to the trip. Water crossings will become iced over possibly frozen solid dependent on depth. It will be too cold for camping (unless you are Jake) so I will block off rooms at a local hotel. We will wheel from 10am until 4 or 5 then go check into the hotel and grab dinner, after dinner around 7 we will head back into the pines for a late run for those who are interested in wheeling in the dark.

We will wheel again Sunday morning after breakfast and wheel until the early afternoon.

The lodging and dinner spot is still TBD.

hey sorry didnt respond earlier. im on like 40 forums. yes i know my way around, have it all mapped out on my GPS and have trails marked for difficulty and obstacles. it should be a good sized outing so we will most likely have two groups heading out.

here is an update

Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00am - Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2:00pm

This will be our first winter run into the Pines. This trip and it's difficulty is solely determined by the weather leading up to the trip. Water crossings will become iced over possibly frozen solid dependent on depth. It will be too cold for camping, so we are going to do just that. We rented small cabins at $30/night they say they fit 6 but i would say comfortably 3 people. each cabin has a wood burning stove to keep you warm all night. We will wheel from 10am until 4 or 5 then go check into the cabins and grab dinner, after dinner around 7 we will head back into the pines for a late run for those who are interested in wheeling in the dark and spotting the Jersey Devil.

We will wheel again Sunday morning after breakfast and wheel until the early afternoon.

There is no cost to enter the park. The only charge is for the cabin. If you would like to stay in a hotel there are a few around.

I did that once on google earth...you can clearly see the fire trails. I soon realised everything changes with brush and terrain and such once your on the ground!
Would love to join you... maybe if you do a early summer run. There are a few ghost towns in there to explore!

do the sizes run big or small?

i would say neither. they are pretty accurate. i wear hanes t shirts and the XL's match up pretty much spot on. It's Gildan brand t shirts if that helps.

Did this trip actually happen? Are there photos and a report back?

I learned of this off-road area through this forum and am interested in trying it out one weekend.

That place looks neat because it looks like you can 'journey' form Point A to Point B rather than doing a bunch of little loops.
