What are some front seat replacement ideas?

I am really not a fan of the low back seats in my 88" so I am looking to you guys for suggestions.

I am mostly looking for something plug and play, requiring little to no serious modifications to work. I am not concerned with keeping a stock look or anything, but I do want nice seats that seem LR appropriate -- I'm not looking to install some crazy, hardcore off-roading seats.

I'd prefer something with an adjustable back, but it's not a requirement.

Suggestions?

Exmoor makes the Series seats with a high back. Again, Neil has them.

G -- I assume you mean these:

Thing is, they're not adjustable. I have no issues distance wise, but the rake on the factory seats is too much. I think I need a seat that's reclinable -- not to go back, but rather be more upright.

I'm sure it's sacrilege, but are Jeep seats an option? I came across some Smittybilt suspension seats that might do the trick (a little extra bounce control couldn't hurt): http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/36.htm

And I found these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-X-RECLINABLE-RACING-SEATS-BLACK-w-4-POINT-SAFETY-HARNESS-BELT-BELTS-/380397743866?hash=item589178eefa&item=380397743866&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

They're not the prettiest (at all) but $270 for two seats, with shipping, seems like a bargain.

I'm not sure, but would D90 seats work? They have a similar seat box as your Series. The D90 seats slide back and forth and recline (and go very up right if you want).

The seat backs on an 88 are supported by the rubber bumpers on the bulkhead. If you want the seatbacks to be more upright you just need to add spacers or a block between the rubber bumpers and the bulkhead. 109s had angled brackets just for this purpose, as the bulkhead is located several inches aft of the 88 location. The 109 brackets would be much too long for use in an 88, however, and they would have the wrong angle.

Jeff Wilson has jeep seats in his Series and they look like they belong.

G -- I don't think Jeff visits this site too much. Any idea what kind of seats he has? Or how difficult they were to mount?

My seat belt set came in. I need to reach out to Neil to see if he has any mounting brackets.

Hey Frank -- I do believe that 90 seats will work, but again, the Exmoor replacements are a bit expensive. I'm trying to save as much money as I can.

I think they were from an 80's or 90's Wrangler, nothing fancy, just the factory seats. From what I remember he said they fit the tracks for the rover and fit right in. They had no logos or anything so nobody would ever know.

I also know people have said Saab seats work. They are the correct track width and can be bolted to the existing tracks. IMO though they don't look right in a Series whereas the Jeep seats look like they belong.

I woould go Bob's route and put larger spacers behind the seat to rotate it forward. That's the best bang for your buck and you'll still have the correct look.

Definitely are expensive. You do see the stock ones used on d-90.com from time to time.

What about something like these guys (http://www.bostromseating.com/products.htm)?

Some seats look close to a defender model. I wonder if they would supply dimensional drawings?
