Trans suffix

Where on the trans would I find the suffix? A while back I bought an old Series II and have yet to acquire it. It is at my friend's farm and I plan to sell the engine and trans and I am curious what I've got.

Where on the trans would I find the suffix? A while back I bought an old Series II and have yet to acquire it. It is at my friend's farm and I plan to sell the engine and trans and I am curious what I've got.

The Gearbox number is on the top cover, and as I recall it's on the right side. The last letter is the identifying suffix. It is possible to find that a cover has been switched from one gearbox to another (earlier or later), unfortunately. The transfer case has no unique number.
