if you want to come up for work days you can help out making the trails and if you want
you could use your rover to set the canes. lyle, rob, and some of the other will be with you.
its like work and play at the same time.

I've already got some ideas....some awful ideas! I can't wait to set canes this year. We're resurrecting "old section 10" from the very first year of the trials in Robesonia. I'ts a trip down a steep rock strewn path with a right hand turn on a 25% slope with a finish off a ledge. Haven't used it in what?, maybe 15 years! Maybe we'll run it backwards! Hmmmmm. I also have some other ideas I think everyone will like. That's only for the advanced though. We'll have some challenging sections for the novice too, just with a lower "pucker" factor!
Remember, the trails are only as good as the work day participation we get. Making 20 or so sections for the Fall event is no one man task. Many hands make light work. I would like to see some good participation in the work days this year. "work" days are not just work, they're a lot of playing, team building and let you explore your own trail building ideas. We also go to Tony's for lunch!! If you build it, we'll name it after you! Ask Rob's son Grady!
We'll have camping on the work and event days. Please let me know if you have any questions or ideas for the event, it's the members that make this club special.
Thanks, Lyle

We'll be there, Jensen and I that is...

Camping of course since I had way too much fun at the spring event. I may limit Jensen's driving expeditions this time though. ****, no Jake this year!

Jensen replaced the driveshaft, he and I replaced the rear door hinges and I have another rear door (thanks Randy) so the Disco(sux) is ready to go. We will try to make it on the 13th for the work day.

Just a remider to everyone, if you're not into tent camping there is an apartment on the property to use. It is 24 x 24 with a full bathroom, kitchen, living room, bedroom, and a Hell of a view (sleeps about 4 comfortably). If you're interested in using it for event or work days (you will need to actually work to get to stay in the apartment between work days) let me know ASAP as it is available. Also another reminder, don't bring firewood to work or event days, we don't need your beetles and we have plenty here for free. Just bring a saw. There is lots of good dead firewood laying on the ground, probably 50 cord or more, no charge, you cut. I will try and get on top of the mountain early and make some fire pits/rings for cooking on work/event days. The most useful tools for work days would be chainsaws for cutting deadfall and bars for use in levering rocks out of the way. I have some great ideas but they'll only work out if we have the manpower on work days to make it happen. Please let me know if you're coming out for work days so we can watch for latecomers, there is a total of over 2000 contiguous acres adjoining the 27 acre event site, we don't want you to get lost. For those coming using a GPS the address is 101 East Mountain Ave. Robesonia PA 19551. Be sure you go here, not Mountain Blvd, Rd. etc. as there are lots of "mountain" references here in the corner of Berks, Lebanon and Lancaster counties. Please contact me if you have any questions. Hope to see you here!

Who's camping Saturday night???

I will, I will!
Oh wait.
I camp here every night? I live here!
Sorry. I will be here though!
Can't beat the camping fees!
BTW, I brought my camper back from the campground. I now have another place for those do not want to tent camp to stay. My camper sleeps at least 7 comfortably. It it down here at my house next to the creek aside the house if anybody needs a place to stay with hard sides. Just let me know in advance, work or event days (you have to work on work days to use camper!) First come, first serve, let me know if you want it. Hope to see you here.

Looks like there will be a couple of us NELRC guys on Saturday to help set up. Our main goal will be to insure Lyle stays sober enough to realize that there were Rovers made after 1975 and doesn't make all the gates just wide enough for the Series.

Another place to stay.....
My Dad bought a pull behind camper. It sleeps four. Once agian, it's for use for anybody on work days (you must actually work) or event days if your not into tent camping. Just let me know. It's parked around the circle in the driveway. Reserve now if tent camping is not your thing.
Also, there was a call for campers for event night, anyone camping? I'll have a canopy set up on top of the mountain to stay dry if need be (Thanks Stephan!) and I'm sure they're will be plenty of food and drink.
Anyone camping?

Both Saturday and Sunday work days will start at 9:00 AM.That means we'll be heading into the woods at 9:00 AM. If you can't make it until a little later, I'll come find you at the driveway, just call or text me at 484-357-9058. Once again, the help is really appriciated, and actually necessary to have a good event. My series truck needs a little work prior to the weekend to be used to set sections so if you'd like them set with something other than my Yamaha quad you might want to bring a Rover with to use to set canes. We will break for lunch around noon and head into town for food. Work days will go until we get tired or done, whichever comes first! Hope to see you here!

It's a Rover, the "death wobble" is just part of the experience! Wait till you get the melted tail light wires from the stupid little muffler at the bumper that falls off, or the radiator that blows up while pulling the camper, or the "I got water in the computer syndrome", or the "what is that clicking noise?" affliction, or the what is code P1317 "rough road low line fault detected" problem, or the "it smells like anti freeze" while it's running or the "why is there smoke coming out from under the dash?! Where's the fire extinguisher!!!!" emergency, or the "oh crap! why is the right rear the only wheel that locks up when I hit the brakes!" or the "did you see that fall off? I think it made sparks when it hit the road?!?!" issue. Or the front brake hose that blows out down the 5 mile hill while pulling the camper and you have 6 fittings and a short piece of brake pipe as your only option to from Autozone to replace while your family reminds you why we didn't buy a Ford!
I'm sure your current "condition" can be remidied by the proper application of either elbow grease, or the application of the Rovers North gift certificates won at the event in two weeks! If it gets over your head, hit the board with questions or visit Trevor.
I'm assuming you looked at the wheel bearings, tightness of lug nuts, steering stabilizer, and the ball joint ends already? How about the compacted mud inside the wheel? How about that damn rubber thinger on the rear drive shaft? That always throws them off!
Or the............
You now, after all that , since 1995 (my first Rover), I still wouldn't pick any other vehicle ever made to take into the woods to do what we do!

Well, with a lot of hard work (and some donuts! thanks Steve) we are finally "all set". Thanks to everyone that came out to help build the sections. We have 8 sections for the novice on Saturday and 10 for the advanced on Sunday. Some are new, some old (with modifications!) but are are driveable in a D-1. I had a little issue with melted points in my series this year (thanks to a BIG DEEP mudhole in Virginia) so all sections were set with a D-1. All were driven with a "clear" so it is possible. Not likely you'll get them all clear!
The camping area looks great this year and we have some suprizes in store.
Thanks to Rovers North and their sponsorship this event we have some very nice prizes. They did a great job at the last minute and I hope all give them the business they deserve.
This year I'd like all to talk and set up a place to share photos and video of the event. Lets work on that on Saturday.
Hope to see you all here! Looks like the weather will be with us.

A big thanks to Dave, Lyle and Mike! Another great event. Really, this is a cool, cool event that I enjoy immensely especially since I started camping out this year.

Always a new set of faces and trucks as well as all the old friends. I first got into Land Rovers only a couple years and this was the first event I experienced (as a spectator). IT just keeps getting better.

Most importantly my son, Jensen, is getting hooked. Everyone there is so supportive as Jensen learns. And everybody was super helpful as my Disco almost rolled (sideways) down the mountain today. Thank you.

Watching the Series trucks is a HOOT! Those damn things go places they have no business going! Incredible and I appreciate those that still use them for what they were built for.

I am sorry I did not have the pleasure of knowing Bill Simone. Having said that, I did speak with several friends that did know him and can plainly see how well respected he was. Kudos to the club for establishing the trials award in his honor.

Being able to camp over Saturday night enables everyone to enjoy both days and spend the evening catching up and having a few drinks!

It is always nice to see new and old faces and to see a variety of Land Rovers being tested in close quarters.
I was especially impressed with the young lad of 12 who entered the advanced trial on Sunday and did very well.
