What is the difference between the two? Looks like ROAV MAR is Oct 4 -6; Conclave Sept 19 - 22.

Which is the 'cool' one to go to and be seen, and with no political infighting and rivalry? And no a-holes.

Anyone going to any of them?

If I go to either it will be Conclave for sure. Last year was a good time.

Hi Ivar!!
Conclave, closer and cool trails. Last year was great fun.

Conclave, had a very good time. Nice trails, mud, hills, felt very open. Good location, actually closer for me too. I also have this really cool grim reaper sticker on the windscreen of my series truck next to the October 1977 inspection sticker.

Ivar,

Last year it was me, Trevor, Neil, Lyle, Dana, Randy, etc... Basically the entire ROVERS crew. There was no drama in our group and it was some of the best camp fire time we've had.

I'd vote Conclave.

Conclave. This year is a "Bottoms" optional event.

OK, I am convinced. Conclave it is.

Let me know if any of you are going together, or when you are going. Would prefer to drive down with a few other rovers.

I will take the series, but you know how it is, cant get any mud on it :o

When were you all thinking of going down?

Looks like I have to go watch the Eagles game on Thurs night, so I think I will drive down Fri morning sometime.

I came Friday morning last year, but that I meant the Thursday night cage match. :(

I will probably go again this year on Friday, but I am coming from the completely wrong direction for you.

Probably Thursday morning, bringing my S3 88, so Ivar's doesn't have to get diiiirrrrttty.
FYI, I will be trailering as I have a bikeybike thing on Sunday in Frederick and need my sexy Italian with me. Can't risk it getting splattered by LR fluids while sitting on a bike rack.....

We are planning on heading down Thursday as well. The current plan (if all goes well), is to trailer down one of the series trucks with the 110.

Is there a place where everyone tends to camp/meet? Never having been there before would be nice to see at least a few friendly faces.

Look for Trevor and gang. We will all be together. Last year we were in Camp 2 and it was a good spot except for the acorn rainstorm Friday night.

I'll be at camp 5 with the rest of the degenerate hoodlums. Mass debauchery at camp 5. That being said I will stop by camp 2 at about 1am to visit once properly **** faced.

heading down Friday morning. Probably bringing the D1 but not totally sold on the idea yet... maybe the 109 will also make the trip. There's still 3 weeks to change my mind a thousand times!!

Ivar
09-04-2013, 05:38 PM
I would like to go on Fri. Think I have been invited to a fancy corporate box at Eagles game on Thurs night, so I will be home late and probably not be the fun guy I usually am on Fri!! But hey, I will probably have a hangover on Sat and Sun as well, so might as well start early.

What time is early?

scatterling
09-05-2013, 07:34 PM
probably trailoring and doing highway on the way down.
Early would be around 6ish.
You planning on driving the 88 down?

Yes, taking the 88 down. Is there a covered garage and carwash on site :)

55 - 60 mph on highway. Too slow for you? Would be nice to drive in convoy, but I honestly don't mind if you want to get there quicker.

G, Matt is going down on Thursday.
Ivar, honestly trying to head out between five and six, but if I end up taking the 109 and not the Disco then I won't trailer and 55-60 seems a rational speed to travel.
I'll know closer to the day.

Take the 109. You need to get back to your roots and away from the coilers. I do too...

OK Neil, don't wait for me. Lets just play it by ear. I will send you a message with my phone number, and we can call a day or two before. I wont leave before 6:30 because I am away all week and will be out late on Thurs night. Will have lots of packing to do in little time.

Conclave was a great trip guys! I really enjoyed meeting more of you.

Sadly my phone died and my camera somehow didn't get unpacked until the monsoons started. (Which meant it got wet and died too...)

Yes, it was fun catching up with everyone again. We have a great club. If only I could remember all your names now!

What is being held in the slot in the bumper over-rider?

Winch pulley block. Matt carefully cut the over-rider to match the pulley block shape. Later that day on a very steep hill it was very nice to simply lift that out and use it while Matt held the truck on the hill, no running around for recovery gear.
