So upon final assembly I found 5-6 really small pits in my RH swivel ball. They are all located on the bottom, right at the edge of the seal stroke. Total compromised surface is less that 2 pinheads distributed over the 5-6 points.

How fast will this spread and the ball finish go South?

Should I try to fill/cover them? What is best - epoxy or Por-15? If I do fill them, should I dremmel the rust to make the pit deeper (to better accept the filler)?

I'd hate to replace the ball, but this is certainly the easiest time to do it...

I used JB weld to fill them in and then very carefully sanded smooth with some fine sandpaper. I didn't do any prep other than cleaning with some brake cleaner. Has held up for a few years now.

Frank - thanks for the tip.

I tried the JB weld. Since all the surrounding chrome is in perfect shape I didn't want to sand it, so I used a razor to shave it down. As soon as I get close to even, the JB pulls right out.

I think I'm going to try and find anew home for this SPH and replace it with NOS...
