They didn't take it either as bulk trash or on recycling day (even though we have single-stream recycling), but the neighborhood is back to normal.

When we have bulk trash we have guys that circle the neighborhood for 2 days waiting for people to put scrap metal on the curb.

Probably 8-10 of these guys, some in ratty old trucks, some in nice new trucks. The one thing they all have in common is stupid glass pack exhausts, but I digress...

You would have been Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to these guys if you had done that here.

It's like a turkey at Thanksgiving. Here's my brother's GDE that he 'picked clean' (like your scrappers would have done to that D2). He didn't remove the drivetrain. It's just all that was left when he was done.
