Used to be that I would look at land rover exchange almost everyday for Series trucks for sale. Now that it's gone the only source I can really find is Ebay and the prices on there are outrageous.

How do people search for trucks for sale these days?

I look at Guns and Rovers daily. I'm not looking for a truck so I'm not sure what's on there, but there's always good classifieds for parts.

You just have to be creative. Look at all the sites you regularly/occasionally visit for LR-related topics - most now have classifieds. Do funky google searches, searchtempest, etc. Sometimes even searching for a specific LR part number will yield an interesting link...

searchtempest, didn't know what one and that is a good place.

It does yield interesting finds!

So your looking for a Series "1", aka D1 ???

No, but a less than 60k mile D1 caught my eye.

I need something cheap if I'm getting back into a Series. Ideally I'd love to find something that runs, but has a bad transmission or something of that nature. I can get it cheap and do the repair to get it back on the road.

Series prices seem to have gone through the roof.

Low mileage catches me too. But rust even more so - NY State being a red flag.

I have not seen a Series in an "affordable" range in a quite a while...

Galen:
There is a series 2A up here in Wellsboro, that has been sitting for a few years at "Walt's Body shop"...Stopped once to inquire...no one around ...looks like a late 2A...hard top...overdrive...15" wheels...body looks OK from a quick look....can stop and take some pic's on Sat....just let me know

The problem with trucks that have been sitting for a long time are bulkheads and frames. It has to be something that can be a rolling restoration.

Never hurts to ask though!

How about you come over Saturday when Michael comes to pick up QQ, and take it for a spin. See if you like it with the better transmission, brakes, suspension, LED interior light, and then decide if you want to make me an offer.....

At the very least I'd buy you lunch G.

Wish I could but C has karate on Saturday now and we won't be leaving town.

I'd love to have Solomon's back, it's my #1 choice, but it's more than I can spend. I'm looking for a magical fairy priced Rover sprinkled in Unicorn dust.

Too bad we can't hook up. I'm sure something series will come up. Worst comes to worst there's plenty of CJ5s in the world. ;^)

Picked up QQ today. So happy to have her back in tip-top shape.

G - do what you can and get Soloman back. Great looking truck.

That does look like a good deal! Wish I had the space to hoard it away for a future project...

Not sure what UK prices are doing, but the dollar is strong. Figure $2500 to get it over here. (Must run)

Wow, that truck is worth what???????????????????????????
What is MY Old Rover worth? 1962 Series II made from bits and pieces and beat to Hell (and loved every minute of it!). Starts and runs every time since a homemade restoration in 2000.
I can't believe what prices are starting to be commanded for the old series Rovers and the NAS Defenders from 1995-1997. It's crazy!
My boss just bought a NAS D-90 for his beach house for $72,000!
Make the investment in the Series!
Even if you're a big tire coil sprung nut, buy a Series and put it out back, it won't rust. If nothing else, your kids will thank you one day.
All I hear at car shows, bars, funerals and such is "boy, if I had that ________ back again!
Keep the ones that matter to you. Find a way to finance it. you'll be happy, even if all you do is get to sit on the elephant hide seats with the steering wheel mysteriously getting closer to you every time you hop in!
