I'm looking at a 2000 Disco project where the engine is described as "It has a slipped cylinder sleeve"" - what's involved in a block rebuild for that problem ? I'll remove and strip it to the block, and rebuild it of course, but is the block work going to be expensive ?

Thanks for any tips.

It's been awhile since I've built one, but if I recall, my machine shop machined the block to fit the liners for under $1000. That car is still going 5 years on....

Check the rust situation very carefully. You may not want to spend time, money and effort on most 2000 D2's in this area. Now a rust-free one could be a different story...

Went with a good old Disco 1 from Randy in the end.

D1 is a better bet in the long run in my opinion, a slight bit less electrics, and they don't have quite as big a back end! D1 parts are just a bit cheaper than DII parts at this point too. If you need anything place it on wanted at the bottom of the forum, I'm sure everyone has a few pieces put aside in the garage.

Answer as to why my OBD and your OBD can't talk to the ECU ?
Checked the system fuse (3, in sat 2) and that's OK, so WTF ?

I think the scatsophratic mojammer has exoflated causing the influx inverter to overload which in turn caused the flux capacitor to overload.
Best thing you can do at this point is buy a series truck with a carbureted intake system, and be gone with the fuel infection that was created in the late 70's by the devil himself and still inflicts the vehicles of today.
Buy a Series.

A real OBD reader can read it. There are some ABS codes to look at.

Have you "flashed" the ABS codes?

Have you "flashed" the ABS codes?

NEVER say that word in front of Brett

No, I haven't got a functional reader for it. My Bluetooth OBD reader can't read the Disco ECU.
Some engine codes look like Lambda sensors, and the ABS wheel sensor codes relate to too much airgap.
I am going to buy a nice Hobart 220V TIG to do the body work, and chassis mounts.

There is a procedure to "flash" the codes on the ABS light itself, no reader needed.

Just need to jumper between two leads under the dash.

I used to have a document detailing this, but now I can't find it...
