Hello All,

Several people had mentioned that there had not been a club picnic in a while, so I spoke to Galen and have offered up our place.

Dates will be July 16-17, and if anyone is available, we will have a prep weekend on July 9-10. We don't have any set trails at the moment but I do have 22 acres of woods to play in. I will also see if I can arrange some time in the local quarry on Sunday.

We want to have this be a low key, relaxing event where everyone can have a good time. I have some thoughts for some events along the lines of some of the older land rover rally's from the 50's and 60's.

We have space if people want to camp.

Our house is located at :
1 Stony Brook Rd
Blairstown, NJ

Thanks All!

Hello All,

I know I put down a work weekend for July 9-10, but if anyone has some free time on the 6/11, 6/18 or 7/2 weekends, I could use some extra help. I have one trail cut so far but it takes me a while to do these by myself.

Quick clarification, for this weekend, I will only be working on Sunday, 6/12.

Had a great time scouting Bill's "new" piece of the world. To date, there are 2 1/2 trails laid out.

See you all next time.
Cheers

Yes, thank you Steve (English), for helping figure out where to put some of the trails. As he said we have 2 1/2 laid out. One goes along a stream (well, through it actually), some marsh and some rocky climbs so there should be something for everyone.

Would really like to see if I can get some extra hands for the main work weekend, July 9-10. I will also be out clearing where I can the other dates I mentioned above, so anyone who is bored with nothing to do is more than welcome.

Both on my calendar.... no promises either way..... 10 gallons of used oil in a 5 gallon bucket. Heck, even if I WAS retired now I wouldn't be able to do it all...... oh well.

Drove trail 2 today and mapped out trail 3. If we are fortunate and there is some rail between not and July, we should have some soft, swampy stuff to drive through as well as the creek crossings which can get interesting when the water is running high.

As a follow up to Bill's hard work, this is a free event. The club will provide lunch and dinner on Saturday. Just bring a side for the dinner.

So, who's up for Bill's work weekend, this coming weekend, 9th/10th?

For anyone coming up his weekend, I'll plan on getting started about 10:00, this will give people time to get here as most of you have never been here before. I will provide pizza for lunch. There are 3 trails that I have driven in a series truck, but I would like to make sure a disco fits. If we have enough people, we could probably even make another one.

Address again is:

1 Stony Brook Rd
Blairstown, NJ

PM me and I will give you my cell number if anyone wants it.

Had a great time yesterday helping with some "gardening" on Bill's new acreage.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the main event this coming weekend, so look forward to see pictures and video.

Have fun

Oliver is very excited to go off-roading. how are the trails? Do I need to switch from my summer road tires to the off-road ones? Looking forward to seeing everyone. Also, I am planning to bring brownies because who doesn't like brownies?

I'd image that you should probably swap tires. What type of Rover will you be bringing?

I will be in a Series IIa 109. (Providing it still runs on Friday)

And what types of tire setups?

galen211

I wouldn't bother, these aren't trails per se, but loops through the woods. Lowering your tire pressure will take you far.

billcooper

I have driven most of them with standard BFG tires. There are a couple of more challenging spots but those have a bypass available.

None of them are overly long, each probably a little longer than a Robesonia trial section. The longest loop is about 1/2 mile long.

It turns out I don't have the wheels I thought I did anyway. They are on someone else's truck so I will be running the road tires and still having fun.

I'm targeting 11am. Ultimately, the rover will decide if and when I get there.

No set times as there is no set schedule. So arrival at any time is fine.

I just wanted to say that Anthony and I had a wonderful time on Saturday. Bill and Patty were amazingly generous hosts. It was also a pleasure seeing old friends -- Galen, Frank, and Lyle -- and making new friends -- Andrew, Oliver, and Adam.

Had a great time! Wish I would have brought a Rover. Trails are very nice! Lots of round rocks with a wet underlay. Not much traction, no square rocks like Robesonia. Made simple runs difficult, just like I like it! I would like to come out and cut more and will do so later this year. Had a great time and Bill's garage is almost on par with Jay Leno's garage! Just give a few years. Food was good, loved the Sirracha ketchup. The Coopers were great hosts and found this place is closer that I thought with well under two hour drive time. Great to see some new faces and some old friends. Loved the relaxing atmosphere and the wonderful grounds at Casa Cooper. Thanks Bill for a great time!
