You would not believe how many people text, email and FB message me saying they want to go before the dates are ever posted. The all say, "I don't care what the dates are, I'm in."

I think people do the same to Evan because he gave me several names when he gave me the dates. If we weren't limited by beds I think this would be one of our biggest events.

A day trip would be fine. I have to meet at 9 a.m. Saturday morning so you could do that too. If you want to bring a tent and sleep in the cold, well that's up to you.

I will go to Giant later this week. They almost always have buy one, get one free stromboli's. Then we have something easy for dinner.

I don't think I've mentioned this, but I can't come Friday night. Charlotte has a school thing, so I will have to meet Saturday morning.

Can someone please do the favor of holding a bed or two in one of the side rooms? Charlotte is coming with me and I need to have a place for her to sleep away from the main room, preferably one where I can be in the next bunk.

Let me know on the food a coordinated dinner sounds good I will be rolling with Kevin and Rob we can bring food or cash for a shopper which ever works I can bring the grill and do steaks or Ribs just let me know

Trying to get the truck setup to tow the series by the weekend. If it works out, are people still parking the tow rigs at the church, and has there ever been any issues with vandalism?

galen211
01-23-2017, 04:08 PM
If there is no snow I would suggest towing it all the way back in.

There has never been an issue with vandalism, but Evan has asked us in the past not to park at the church since they have services on Sunday. Last year I left my car at the Pine Hollow (after asking) and it was fine.

Hey Gang, super excited to be able to make it this year. This will be my first trip to SCC. Can anybody give me the run down on how meals typicaly work for the weekend, so I can bring my fair share of grub? What cooking devices does the cabin have, if any? Planning on meeting up Friday with the initial group.

Dan,

I can't speak for AT&T but Verizon has improved greatly over the years. It is possible to have a phone conversation in the "parking" lot around the cabin and texts messages will go through.

The cabin has a large kitchen with a commercial stove and everything you need to make just about any meal. If you look at the food list there are a lot of eggs being brought. Typically someone ends up making a breakfast out of all the stuff people bring for everyone. Lunch is on you on the trail. We used to have a more coordinated dinner, but it seems this year it will be bring whatever you want and we'll make a community potluck out of it.

Is there a refrigerator, or are we working out of coolers?

Let me know if the electricity during the day is a definite, and I'll plan on making pulled pork. I can bring a slow cooker if there isn't one in the kitchen.

Coolers. There is a propane fridge but they never really turn it on.

Bring your crock pot. Sent a message to Evan asking him if they keep it on.

Just wrap the pork up in foil and put it on your intake manifold. It will be nice and warm by the end of the day. :p

UPDATE: Evan says we can leave it on.
