Just thinking the other day, that we all have skills other than rover things and the guys with rover skills need other things too. So lets start with this.

I do websites for a living. I'll offer advice on websites, hosting, emails, design, or do work for you. www.crazyfishdesign.com. I always need Series parts and mechanical help. What have you got?

What have you got to trade to someone else?

It's a pretty long list, but I feel my trade that most benefits the club is that I am an actual "certified recovery specialist". No, really! I also have access to large trucks; tow-trucks, flatbeds, lowboys, car carriers, etc. And I move construction equipment around all day. How is this beneficial to the club, you may ask? Well, for instance, if you found a yellow 109 150 feet down an embankment and had to recover it and transport it to, let's say, Doylestown, I would be your first call.:D

skills? well, I don't have a job like Sean or Jason, but I am in school. If all goes well I should have a degree in mechanical engineering shortly so if you have a technical or design question just ask. If I don't know it somebody around here will. There are lots of fancy computer programs here at school for complex force calculations and auto cad type programs so maybe that could be of use to someone trying to make an axle truss, bumper, or something. I'd be happy to model something up and "test" it on the computer.

I can cook for a reasonably large group of crazy off-roaders. If the weather is warm enough and time allows we can smoke just about anything from a chicken wing to a pig.

I am a civil engineer by trade and manage construction projects. I can build just about anything. Also do large rigging jobs, heavy lifts, concrete slip forms, caissons, foundations, structural steel erection. Just did a nice job in the State of Washington where we did a horizontal drill 700 ft long.

Well, I am a mechanical designer and can design anything in a 3D CAD system. Most of what I do is Navy research at PSU so I could tell you what I do, but then I would have to kill you.

Well, not really, but 3D design work is fun and I can make prints for just about anything. Occasionally I do a newsletter and I can take pictures too. Before I was a designer I was a photojournalist.

So far I have found most of these skills useless in the procurement of Series parts but you never know....

Nowadays, I'm work in IT as a systems integrator. This new life does not get me ANY rover parts at all :D

In a past life, I was a mobile electronics installer (radios, alarms, custom stuff). I built a few cars for various auto shows and competitions. The few times I worked on Rovers back then were of the "non-offroading" kind. I can wire up pretty much any accessory in the truck (properly), and troubleshoot electrical problems. Perhaps this is worth some spare parts ;)

putting them back together takes a little longer. Also have lots of mainly series IIa parts that can be traded for something I need or do not have or just "need" to have because it looks cool.

previous life: Director Information Systems Pitney Bowes Corp, now, besides a budding land rover geek, I'm a realestate investor/developer. Something has to pay for all these parts..... and Trevors barn and dog food ;)

Not sure this is useful to anyone or anything rover.... In fact I'm pretty sure it's not

I'm afraid being so far away is of no help to anyone. But I am a master mechanic, working on British, Japanese, and American vehicles, specializing in diagnostics, for the past 38 years. As far as finding parts, they come from everywhere. jim

You might be able to help me, I'm heading up to NS this summer on the bike (with the wife). If we breakdown I might have to ask you for assistance :)
Lemme know if you need anything from NY.

One of the greatest bikes ever! I miss "KiLeR". I'm taking my Dad out Saturday to check out the Buell Ulysses. Who knows, I might trade my Lightning for one if they give us a good deal. The list of riders in the club is growing. Sean, Stuart, me, and you. Anyone else out there?

If you're going up to NS, drop in on the MORE forum.

Lots of friendly Rover owners up there in addition to Jim. If you head up in May on Victoria Day weekend (May) drop in at the Moose Trophy.

Interesting group......

Me, I fly (big) airplanes. I can do aerial photography if you want to set up some synchronized mudding........I also build things and do anything except refrigeration. Never did figure out those two gauges with the blue and red hoses....but plumbing, concrete, masonry, electrical, roofing, carpentry are no problem.... I'm also a Coast Guard liscensed Captain.....in case we want to take the Landies on a boat.....and a pretty experienced sailor. I can cook a good vegetarian meal, sing and play a half a tune on an accordeon or keyboard, and occasionally do decorative set painting and light computer based graphic arts. I own theatrical lighting and can do your next stage production. I'm a PA liscensed realtor in escrow. I've tended bar and waited tables. I've driven a Leopard I tank for Her Majesty (Queen of the Netherlands). I can turn a wrench halfway decently. I'm sure I missed something. Sometimes I wonder if I would have been tied down and force fed Ritalin if I was born 30 years later...... Let me know if I can help.

I'm an acupuncturist and I do osteopathic-style bodywork. I can do great things with stress / sleep disturbance / immune issues but my specialty is musculoskeletal complaints. Chronic back / neck / knee pain, etc. I'm very gentle - no violent chiropractic popping.

Great for those post-off-roading aches. :)

I will need: probably some mechanical work, certainly some advice, info on trails to practice on since I'm new to the 4x4 thing. Also would love someone to come collect Shaun ('70 88" pickup) with me from Baltimore sometime after the 26th of Nov. I'll cover gas & lunch.

Plumbing, heating, or air conditioning questions? I can probably help.

Also, before I decided to join the family business I got my B.S. in biology and fisheries management. So if you have a pond and want to know what to stock it with I may be able to help you out.

Oh yeah, my wife is English and we usually make a trip or two back and forth each year. If you need any parts (reasonably small parts obviously) from across the pond and can find them near to or have them sent to her parents house (near Bath) i might be able to save you some shipping costs.

Bath is a beautiful city. It's unlike any other I've been to. The Georgian architecture is pretty amazing.

Cardiff's not so bad itself, my wife did her pgce (teacher certification) there. If I had to pick somewhere to live in England (which I may have to do someday) it would be on the Welsh border, namely Gloucestershire or Herefordshire.

Hey, if anyone one has any travel questions you're welcome to ask me. My wife is a fanatic about travelling. I think if it were entirely up to her we would never settle down. I've been quite a few places and my wife has been to dozens more. Obviously we haven't been everywhere, but we may be able to give some advice.

Sorry I'm kind of off on a tangent now, but this is actually pertinent to the forum and travelling. If you're ever in Australia, don't miss Fraser Island. Rent a truck (sorry everyone, but it's almost definately going to be a land cruiser), take the ferry, and enjoy some amazing scenery driving the beaches and trails of the island. It's an incredible trip.

MDDisco, the Roverlab barn metal roof leaks in a number of places. I've fixed up the interior well for the shop and would hate to have that work destroyed from water damage.
Would you be interested in taking a look for either fixing or replacing?

For trade:
I've got a pretty good set of wrenches and I'm not afraid to use them, tyre mounting and balancing equipment and wholesale pricing at many of the popular Land Rover parts houses!

I'm a recent M.E. grad with a few years of design experience and good CAD software. I can help with structural design (bumpers, susp. links, etc.) and produce drawings. Not an experienced mechanic but I love to turn a wrench. I have a little construction experience from summer jobs and habitat for humanity.

Will work for beer.

Don't know why I haven't posted here before.

I'm Electrical and mechanical engineer by training. Designed circuits through systems. I do occasion specialty pieces here and there now. (Like making an LED headlight set-up, for my one Indian). I can program in few different logics - C++, BASIC, etc. Network and computer set-up, building.

I also have a small personal machine shop at my house, and can design needed pieces and whatnot. Also have a TIG. I restore old motorcycles and make parts I can't get anymore. I'm actually thinking on taking this a further step and start for a living.

I also used to do semi-professional photography, and non-production art. And top it off played in a few bands in my time.

So take your pick - if I might have something to offer, hit me up. Now that I'm a pretty confirmed Series addict, I'll be keeping an eye for parts. And any old motorcycle parts you might have...... :D
