There is probably a thread somewhere about this, but I would like to know where to order the solid rivets that are used to attach the galvanized cappings to the tub. Part number and price would be great as well if I am not asking too much already.

Thanks
Cristina

Cristina,

I bought my rivets from Jay-Cee Rivets and Sales in Michigan. You can get the tooling for the rivet gun from them as well. They ship quickly and are very helpful on the phone. Rivets are sold per 100pcs. I probably need something from them if you cannot hit the $20-30 minimum order!

There are several types of rivets used:
- solid round head
- semi-tubular truss head (or round head)
- pop rivets
You will need to measure the holes in your cappings/birmabrite to determine the proper diameter rivet.

JC has pretty much every type of aluminum rivet available. For the cappings I think you will also need the pop-type rivets, as you cannot behind all of them to properly 'buck' the solid rivets. Check another SII LR's cappings to be sure.

I'd be happy to lend a hand when riveting time comes (Sean and I are now "experienced" at this!).

Let me set the record straight. Tom suggested, I confirmed. Tom worked, I pointed. Tom riveted, I watched. Tom smiled at the finished project, Sean left.

I now feel qualified to work for the State Highway Dept.
