Well, I finally got my new custom bumper from Ike. www.pangolin4x4.com
This thing is SERIOUS. A few quick pics as the Post Office dropped it on my front porch. Hate to be that guy on that day!

Sean, I think you really need a better plan to fix your steering than just a stout bumper.

That will look really nice with that old Belleview on there. I've been trying to find an old winch because they just look right on a Series.

Hey cool next time we drag the short buss up a hill by its bumper we won't be worrying about it falling off.

What's that old Warn winch number? 8271? They are oldish looking.

8274. Warn bought Belleview and the Belleview is what became the Warn 8274 winch. It is such a good winch they still make it today the same way as they did in the 60's and 70's.

Here's a pic of the 8274, kind of hard to see. I'll try and find another one....

The integrated fairlead looks really slick on that bumper. Very nice!

I agree about the 8274, looks correct on the series.

Sean,

That's really nice! I thought about the same one. Those raised ends are definitely Robesonia-friendlier.

The "series" being winched out of the creek, that isn't typical of anything at Robesonia is it?

Nope just a MAR thing. But then again at MAR everyone get's winched out of a creek or up a hill.

The bridge washed away in the rain overnight, only one series 88 made it without winching as I recall

Rob since your a newbie we should clarify. MAR is the Mid-Atlantic Rally held in Virginia every October. Last year there was a rare fall nor'easter and we had 8" inches of rain in two days. That particular day of the pics we went to look at the James River and how high it had risen. We were at the start of one of the trails so we said, "why not?" Four miles and six hours later we came to this point where the bridge had been washed out and we were forced to cross the creek without a bridge.

When the lead group came across this site there were two RRC's stuck with no recovery equipment. Before crossing the group had to winch out a tree and the old drainage pipes that were very close to twisting sheet metal. Got them out of the way then Bill Simone is his Series crossed without a problem. Jeff Wilson got through the water in his Series but got stuck in the mud on the bank. Everyone after that had to be winched. One other guy did get through in a Series but he had lockers front and rear. He wasn't part of our group though.

That was last year (2006) the year before they were in the remnants of a hurricane and before that I believe they had ridiculous rain also.

That trail was hard work but it was so much fun. I enjoyed that day a lot because everyone worked together to get through.

"Rare", eh? For MAR?

The semantics may change, but the rain is always there. Although in 2005 it didn't rain on Thursday and you could run all the trails...

The nor'easter was rare but the rain certainly was not.

This past year we ran most of the trails Wednesday before the rain and it was great.

Let's see the three I've been to. First year 3 hurricanes came through prior to the event. So the James was flooding. No rain thankfully. Second year tropical storm came through on Friday so the trails were dry Thursday and boring. Also rode with Trevor that year due to a broke Rover (also the year on the way home I made jiffy pop popcorn on Trevor's floorboard). Last year no rain Thursday during the day. Rain started that night and we got the Nor'easter. Maybe this year we'll get snow?

Sweet. It looks like Ike's is very similar to the the Doug Shipman bumper. It's a cool bumper.

semi installed. Last one where the old cheapy one folded 3 or 4 times hitting things at low speeds, usually Robesonia...

Look for the complete write up in an upcoming Land Rover Monthly!

Fish,
Looks like you could have extra front bumperetts to sell.
Just asking so I can be first on the buyer list.

You are indeed first, nice spotting! I think I paid $60 - $75 for the pair. They are slightly missmatched but it took me a year to notice it. Great shape, let me pull em when I get a chance.

We could all run around your rover with hammers - then you would be free to hit all the trees you want.:D
