There are some excellent pictures on there to look at that might come in handy for resto type stuff if the underhood pictures are representative of "authentic" LR and not somebody's idea of what it should have been restored to look like.

For $28k I think I'd rather restore one, at least then I'd understand/appreciate what went into it.... I wonder if there are even any project 86's left... Man it sure would be sweet to drive one off the floor like this though. Can you imagine pulling up in the driveway or on the trail in this?

I'll take either one -- they're both rare and look to be well cared for.

the land rover dealership in Harrisburg used to have an old 1956 86" in their showroom, looked almost like the one on ebay. cool to actually see one that old and in such good condition - I think it was for sale

I keep trying to get Derek to drive a leafer before he buys one! It's only 20 minutes from my house to his, but I'll bet a 2.26 (the extra .01 is from wear in the cylinder bore) in a heavier 109 adds easily 6.3 minutes! hahahahahaha

Derek, did you ever check out the 4dr p/u in Annapolis?

The seller is in FL and we haven't been able to connect yet. It's a RHD like I want and the price seems right. But I want to see the frame and floors. I'll keep you posted. Oh and the color? Me thinks Home Depot or Dukes of Hazard. That would have to change. It can't be a LR color could it?

Regarding the color, anything's possible. I know Aussie exports got their own hues from time to time. I kinda like it, though. I really like the idea of a crew cab 109, and in that color, I'd bet you'd be the only one like it in the country. Talk about something you don't see every day.

The person whom that gentleman purchased it from will say it's "the G4" color, ...that would be Dom from UKLandrovers, they sell series on ebay all the time. I can tell you what that guy paid for it if you like, I have thier price list...ssshhhh!

Well if it's a genuine LR color I could live with it, I'd just put a big "01" on the door ;) I too love the cab and softop over the bed. Very unique.

Carrie, about that price???? This guy is asking $7700 I think...

A diesel 88 for $4,000? What kind of shape? If it's anything decent, sign me up! Cristina can pry the 88 she's been eyeing out of my garage.

Derek, I haven't seen any of his in person, I would really pay attention to the frame/chassis. I know that UKLandrovers built that top themselves......so I'd really pay attention to the details. I'm not saying they're bad....but use a fine tooth comb. I've heard the trucks hold many secrets.....so until I can see on personally I'm always suspect.
