My boss is looking for a Freelander or Disco for his daughter. He would prefer to spend less than 8k, if anyone has a lead on anything, please PM me or reply here with a witty or sarcastic post.;) Amusing banter trumps solid leads any day of the week. At least I know we won't see Soli looking at a Freelander thread!:D

Jason -- Check out the forums on muddyoval.com ... you'll find all the info you could ever need...

Freelanders are eh... they really are just not reliable.. a lot of the convo I see on there is people trying to figure out the best time to sell them... right before the warranty runs out!

I haven't heard a lot of feedback regarding them, but I'll look into it. I think he's mostly concerned with the gas mileage and a young girl in a larger truck. I am trying to sway him toward a Disco, but they're a slightly tougher sell due to the early electrical and tranny problems, and then the later BMW problems.

Muddyoval is your best resource.. just look through the freelander section (http://muddyoval.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6) ...

People love the trucks, they ride nice, gas mileage is good... but the reliability is the issue. Some of the maintenance is very expense also.. timing belt costs over $1500 ... engines have been known to go and I think supply of the engines is low.

I'd put her in a disco if its going to be a Rover..
