I had issues with the IACV (idle air control valve) on our D1, so I pulled it and cleaned it. Put it back in and still couldn't get a decent idle - it wouldn't cut out on me, but very erratic. I bought an aftermaket IACV (alternative p/n acquired from Discoweb):
IACV
- P/N AC151, crossed-over to NAPA p/n 2-1856 (Standard Motor Products) $50
- OEM Application of this valve: ~1992 Jeep Cherokee w/ 4.0L Inline 6
I compared the aftermaket to the original before installation and the new IACV's plunger was not extended as far as the one I removed. This was good news as now I didn't have to adjust it (i.e. make it shorter to prevent damage on installation). Cut a new gasket and now it runs like a champ!!!
