You'd better! I figure you've got 5 solid weekends to sort it out.;)

You're conflicting with the Pennsic Wars.....:D My daughter makes me go there.....It's Sir Gasalot's annual big trip. (There has to be an automotive challenge involved after all....) But I don't think we'll be heading there untill the 1st or 2nd of Aug.....so I will see if the scheduling computer at work thinks I need the 28th off.......

I graduate this thursday and then I can work on it 24/7 for the next month till I start work - so there is a very good chance the strange rover will be at the AGM! In fact, I would almost bet that I fix your kick down cable by then as well - almost.

How far is this from York? Thanks, Scott

jason

York is about 60 miles away from Avondale, so roughly 6 hours by Series.:)

In it's infinite wisdom, or through an oversight of epic proportion, the scheduling computer has honored my request for the 28th of July off.....:D

I'm still working on talking the family into it.

I have located Avondale on the map.....Route 66 sayz: 77.7 miles.

St. Anthony in the Hills is foreign to said program....where in Avondale is this?

When you go to the website to pay for the picnic via Paypal, keep in mind it is only $10 per person, not what is stated in the payments tab.

Postcards for the event are in the mail. If you don't get one, don't be offended. I didn't send them to everyone (keeping cost down you know);)
Besides, if you are reading this, you are either on the list on page one, or you've read enough about time and place on this forum you don't need a postcard.:)

One thing I failed to mention on the postcard:

Food and drink is included, but we are on our own for dessert. Please bring something to share like brownies, cookies, etc.

Also, thank you to everyone that responded. It's a big help to Tom and Mira who are organizing. Of course, if you haven't made up your mind yet, or don't know if your schedule will allow a trek to PA, you are still welcome to join us.:)

As a minimum, I'll be there.
Andrea should be home that weekend-first in a month ( I thought dermatology was supposed to be one of the cushi-er specialties, 9-5 Monday through Thursday and on call once every 11 weeks?!) so she'll either come with Max and myself or stay home with Max and unpack.

Dawn made her cream puff specialty, she has been in the kitchen all evening.

We could very well be driving her V8 109, it should be completing inspection and tagging tomorrow morning.

The picnic is being held at St. Anthony in the Hills, located at 6730 Limestone Road, Avondale, PA 19311. If you are coming from U.S. Route 1 you will need to go south on Pa. Route 41 about 5.4 miles to Limestone Road. You will pass thru 'downtown' Avondale, on Rt. 41 / Pennsylvania Avenue which becomes Gap-Newport Road. Rt. 41 crosses over Limestone Road about 1/2 mile west of the Delaware state line, but you need to exit Rt. 41 before you cross over. Take Limestone Road south about 400 yards, to the St. Anthony's entrance on the right. I think it is the first driveway on the right, and IIRC there is a small St. Anthony's sign..... The entrance road kind of wanders around a bit, just drive until you see some Rovers. If you miss the entrance, like I did, Limestone Road will shortly become Delaware Route 7.

If coming from Rt. 295 from New Jersey, you want to go north on Delaware Rt. 141, Basin Road. (I have no idea how the I-95-I-295 interchange will function....) After about mile or on Rt. 141 north, Rt. 41 Gap-Newport Pike will angle off to the left. It will then be about 10 miles to the Pa. state line and Limestone Road. Rt. 41 will be a busy road.....

If searching via MSN Maps or Mapquest, the Hartefeld National Golf Course is near to St. Anthony's in the Hills, just to the north of Rt. 41 off Limestone Road.

HTH,
Bob

Me, the Admiral and son had a wonderful time at the picknick. It was a pleasure to meet so many of you and put faces with posts. You are a great group. Thank you.

The fact that Evan and I collected three lumps a trailer and a truck in one day helped keep spirits high of course......:D

Big thanks to Tom and Mira. They organized the picnic, got the food, set up the scavenger hunt for the kids, and came up with fun activities for the "big kids" as well. It was nice to see some old friends, and a pleasure to meet new ones. I'm looking forward to the next event!

Great time at the picnic! I learned that I am not a great navigator for blind people. Hopefully next year my RR will make the trip.

Dawn and I also had a great time. Being a newbie to the club it was good to place faces with names and screen names. We look forward the the next get together. Dawn's V8 109 performed excellent on the trip, and she even got to drive it home.

I learned that I am not a great navigator for blind people.

I learned that I am not a good navigator either. It was my first time trying it (on either end) and I found out that I had VERY little sensation of movement when doing the driving part. Thought about trying to do it in Low Range so that I could just run brake but I did left foot brake while trying to drive it. Thanks again Joe for Nav'ing for me.

On the Navigating part I went into it thinking I would be able to direct better having just driven the course. I was thinking, "half turn right, full lock right, ease forward....etc etc" but it came out as, "whoa, hold on, I can't see that cone, hold on, oops, gee I think we hit that one, go forwards, wait, stop, back up" Sorry Frank. I'll be twice as experienced next year.

I wish my 109 could live at your house for a few weeks! It was great talking with you, nice work on your wifes's 109. Next time, I'm going to have to catch a ride.

That's okay Rob - I was no better as navigator myself - it is harder than it looks!
