Ok, I've never been in a vehicle with a detroit locker in it or driven one for that matter. How much does it change the onroad characteristics and does it make sense to even consider one? Is the added expense of the ARB air locker and also the compressor worth while? Money is definately an object here.

I have the detroit rear/TT front... The steering is definitely a bit stiffer, but not bad.. it doesn't feel like i've lost any driveability, just that i need to put a bit more muscle in it.. Offroad, the combo was great, crawled me over everything.

I had a Detroit at first, and have installed others in other Rovers. Other that the banging if you apply throttle in the middle of the turn on dry pavement, or the occaisional lurch on wet pavement, they're great off road.

I would strongly encourage budgeting for somesort of hardened axles. I had my Detroit with stock axles, broke an axle and the resulting shock load took out the Detroit as well.

I like the selectability that the ARB gives you.

Bill Davis is a great resource-just give yourself some time when you're on the phone. He has a lot of info to share.

There's my 2 pennies
