Ryan and Eric - Maybe I'll have to check out Guy Fawkes next year - right now I'm loosing about a pint of coolant every 100 miles so long trips are out. Hopefully the winter trip will work!

Abe - you're on the list!

I hate to miss two in a row, but I've got the kids for the weekend while Elaine is in Philly with her friends. Frank, do you want to trade a coolant leak for three kids?;)

Hahaha - I've got a lot more than just coolant leaking!

You better make the next one then - hopefully we'll have some snow this year!

Unfortunately, I cannot make this one as it's my anniversary weekend. The wife just wouldn't understand going to pick up garbage for our anniversary...

Maybe she would go for a romantic picnic in the park then?

missed MAR and another ringwood cleanup. I had to settle for a Yota with the wheel on the wrong side and a funky top...

Frank, I'll be getting my membership dues in asap.

Nice shots! Looks like you're having fun down there.

Are you there for one semster or the whole year? If you're back I'll have a winter clean up february or march in the snow.

Yes, get those dues in! I feel like the mean cop in the club now harassing everyone.

ok now you have to explain those photos!

I'm studying abroad in Sydney. Over spring break we spent 3days/nights camping on Fraser Island(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraser_Island). Its the biggest sand dune island in the world with rain forest and fresh water lakes. You can drive on most of the beaches and there are a lot of inland tracks. Driving a stick shift diesel truck, with 8 of your drunk friends in the back, on the wrong side was an experience, especially on the mainland when you hit a roundabout haha.

Frank, I'm here for one semester, so I'll be back in about a month and a half.

I had a great time. some very cool trails out there. it was nice to get the truck running again and out in the woods.

here is a GPS track of our route. You will need Google Earth to see it.

yeah Google Earth is so sweet. the aerial view is real cool to see where you were and where you could have gone. I'm getting used to saving out tracks but still need to figure out how people upload images to the track to show where the images were taken at.

Damn, I missed another great event! But, I was attending a wedding in Sarasota where I met a guy (at a car show that just happened to be in town) with a 95 LWB with a 4.6L. He had the same problems I had and bit the big bullet and switched to the 4.6L.

About Google Earth...I have downloaded it about 6 times! Whenever I restart my computer, for whatever reason, it is gone! Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

hmm, I don't know why this is happening? what do you have a Mac or PC? is the computer super old or relatively new?

I need to figure out how to make the route take points every 5 or so feet instead of by time i think. because when it plots points at timed intervals you get weird straight lines when you see the trail is curved. I think i should be able to figure this out, and will try it on the next trip.

the one thing that is cool in Google Earth is the way you can tilt the earth to see the elevation. i freakin love that!

On a Mac, it loads a disk image ( think of it like a cd in your drive ), you need to open it up and drag the application to your hard drive.

If it's a PC, sorry.

This is the video we took of the event. I apologize if a lot of it is of my truck as we were in the back of the pack, so we could only catch the trucks near us. I would have liked to get some video of Frank, but he was the leader. I'll definitely catch him at Rausch Creek, though. Enjoy.

That video is great! Maybe we'll have to put you up front next time so people don't think the strange rover is camera shy.

I have a PC. Sony Vaio VGC-RA830G Pentium 4, liquid cooled, loaded desk top. It ate Google Earth again this week! And of course, no information from Google regarding the problem. I now saved the download to my Google file and just keep reinstalling it every time I want to use it.

Google Earth is working great on my ancient laptop! It is really cool looking at the route in 3D - great way to check out new trails and get a basic lay of the land. Thanks for posting that up Dan!

no problem! I want to get better at it and get the tracks to be more inline with the actual route we take. I'm still figuring out how to add photos and videos and information to the files.

so I just downloaded a bunch of Topo maps from Trails.com and pieced together the Ringwood area and overlaid it onto Google Earth. the topo matches up pretty good, but not absolute. you can adjust the opacity of the topo if you Control Click > Get Info (Mac) Right Click > Get Info (PC).

check it out, its real cool once you start to tilt Google Earth
