I have a 3.9 from a Defender that has new head gaskets (composite), head bolts, head machining. Was driven 1100 miles before being pulled to fit a 4.6/auto conversion.
Remainder of engine has approximately 106k miles. Was running very strong when pulled; I thought it ran well, but he really wanted more power. Does not include intake or exhaust manifolds, oil pan, timing cover as all of this was used on the replacement engine.

I would suggest fitting new main and rod bearings, maybe a timing chain, as the engine is already out and the bearings are easy to fit ,especially on an engine stand.

    $500

Randy's engines would be more complete, and keep in mind that as they are serpentine belt-ed, they'd need some of your original engine's components transfered.

Why does your new purchase need an engine?

never mind, I saw the other post.

Make it $400, and I'll throw in some advice when needed.
