1976 Siii Rhd
Looks like I just bought Marks D110 on D-90.com and I need to fund the improvements, picking up where he left off I want to install an auto trans and 4.2 or 4.6 power plant.
So if anyone wants a strong running S3 you can just get in and go this is your truck. She's not perfect but she's fully functional and is a great driver. Frame is solid, bulkhead needs some work but plenty of life left. This is Galens old truck and it's been well cared for. I picked it up from him last year and the only thing I've done to it is drive it. Pics attached. I'll send more on request. Looking for a quick sale so lets make a deal. $4kobo sound right? I paid $5k
Recent Work:
New brakes all around
Rebuilt all the wheel cylinders
Replaced the broken cam adjusters
New hard brake lines in the front
New master cylinder
New battery
rebuilt the carb the proper way (Zenith)
New plugs, wires, points, cap, rotor etc...
Welded in a new rear crossmember
New shocks
New exhaust
New output shaft seal
Extended breathers on axles and tc
New outer bearings in rear
New hub seals on all four corners
Resealed the transmission shifter forks with Heater Hose, now they don't leak a drop.
Installed a block heater to replace a leaky freeze plug.
Has the oil filter adapter to accept a modern filter
Current Problems:
1. It will pop out of first gear. engages fine but I have to hold it in, I usually start in 2nd anyway especially when in low range
2. The windshield wiper motor squeals when used, but does work. The motor probably needs rebuilt, but I don't drive enough in the wet to need it.
3. Sometimes the starter will not engage (I guess that is what is happening) you can hear it spinning but doesn't do anything to start. I never bothered b/c 2 or 3 turns of the key usually makes it work. Seems more pronounced when its cold outside.
The frame is in good shape, it has obvious patching but has lots of years left in it now that the rear crossmember was replaced.
Thanks, Derek
