I would take a look at the hazard switch- in order to change the light bulb in the clock, one might have disconnected the harness on the back of the switch and maybe it's not fully seated. The t/s need the hazard switch in line to function.

F1 (15amp) in the under dash fuse box and F4 (30amp) in the under hood fuse box supply power first to the hazard switch and then into the fuse box where the t/s flasher unit is located.
Trailer wiring? I had a Disco in here last week that had a completely smoked signal convertor. I mean, it let all of the smoke out. Thank goodness for fuses, but it left him stranded at a Taco Bell drive through with a trailer and the Rover in park!

I would think that cooking the wires would be unlikely but anything is possible.

Hey Trevor, when are you gonna pick up that blue range rover under the wrightsville exit bridge?

Does the trailer indicator come on or just flash when you first apply the turn signal?

It should just flash once with the signals, this is normal on a D1
