Default Metal forge - knife making?

My 11yo is interested in metalworking, with the goal of moving up to knife making. Anyone have experience with building a forge, and/or possibly know of surplus equipment in the NJ/PA/MD/VA area?

My nextdoor neighbor is a knife maker, Joel Bolden. If you google his name you'll see some of his work. I can ask him if he knows anything about forges.

Call Ray Mathis Tutto Metal Design. Go visit him on a Saturday with your son, offer to buy an hour of his time and take a look at what he has done. Just outside of doylestown on Rt 202. I don't think he has extra equipment, but he certainly knows the others in the area. Great guy, amazing work. He made most of the office furniture in the office.

Thanks for the replies, I just read them! I actually spent two whole days in my garage working on the 109!!!

I think visiting Ray in Doylestown is a great idea - thanks Sean.
