    Default LR3 steering u-joint - replacement defective?

LR3 steering u-joint prone to seizing up which causes 'uneven' steering and a lack of self-centering. Gets worse gradually so kind of sneaks up on you. Around 72K miles.

My issue is that the replacement seems defective - moves smoothly in one plane but is rough in the other. I guess I'll send it back and see if the next one is better unless somebody has different advice?

Send it back - should be smooth both ways. While not on an LR3, I've replaced some of those and they definitly should be smooth all around.
