    Default 109 questions

Perhaps someone an help me with a couple of minor questions. Background: my 109 is a '67 IIa SW but has a SIII chassis.

    1) Which side of the chassis rails and the u-bolts do the check straps go? Either way the straps look like they would rub on the U-bolts etc or be slightly twisted.

    2) Does anyone have a photo of how the center (i.e. under the drivers posterior) exhaust pipe mounting is supposed to attach to the chassis (mine currently has a servicable but ugly lash-up...

    Thanks
    Peter

This may not help, but on my series 11, 88 inch, the check straps are on the outside of the spring up to the chassis strap brackets.

    Thanks Dave.

Rob P: I guess check strap=limiting strap. But "check strap" is what is used in the Green book. See Dave's post for what it does.

PS: Dave, want to swap your 109 for mine - it looks great!

    Peter,

I can take a pic this weekend of the exhaust mount. I had to rebuild mine a few years back, as I couldn't find anything similar - even through UK supliers (NLA?).

Thanks Tom. Maybe there is a difference between military and civilian exhausts? Or maybe mine is on wrong... Mine goes nowhere near the hand brake bolts (it's lower and and outside the frame rail...)

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still waiting for the other 107 questions.
